Canada Day Long Weekend

The Niagara Jazz Festival presented by TD Ready Commitment will kick off a spectacular three-day celebration starting with International Jazz musicians on Sunday. The festivities will continue the following Monday evening with North American Blues musicians performing at the popular Rock ‘N Blues event. On Canada Day, we will celebrate City of Thorold's 50th anniversary on Tuesday afternoon with the community. All three days of free music will include artisans, community booths, and food vendors. We will showcase a Wall of Reflection and a massive birthday card for residents to sign. We will close the 3-day long weekend with fireworks at 10 p.m. in Battle of Beaverdams Park. This is a fully licensed event.

The City of Thorold is situated on treaty land. This land is steeped in the rich history of the First Nations such as the Hatiwendaronk (Hat-i-wen-DA-ronk), the Haudenosaunee (Hoe-den-no-SHOW-nee), and the Anishinaabe (Ah-nish-ih-NAH-bey), including the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. There are many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people from across Turtle Island that live and work in Niagara today. The City of Thorold stands with all Indigenous people, past and present, in promoting the wise stewardship of the lands on which we live.
